No one can miss the rustic ambience of Odo-Eku, a village in Kwara State, northcentral Nigeria. Bounded on all sides by undulating hills and all-year-round lush vegetation, the ecosystem of Odo-Eku and its environs has largely been preserved. Global youth unemployment stands at record levels and significantly outstrips that of joblessness rates for other age groups. Everywhere you look, the numbers are deeply troubling. The latest statistics from the International Labour Organization put the global youth unemployment rate at more than 81 million workers – 40 percent of the total unemployed.
