Change
Climate change is the biggest threat mankind has ever faced.
It is caused by the build-up of greenhouse gases from burning
fossil fuels and the destruction of carbon storage areas such
as the rainforests, which in turn leads to global warming.
Limiting global warming to 2 degrees Celsius, as called for by
the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is crucial.
A low-carbon economy is the key to significantly reduce the
output of greenhouse gases. This chapter explains the steps
necessary to move toward a decarbonized economy.
